Software that speeds up genetic research by integrating genome sequencing, assembly, and annotation, allowing the comparison of genetic information between species and the discovery of genes relevant to specific traits. My role was to understand, conceptualize, and design this tool.
Spora Biotech, a biotechnology company based in LATAM, aims to develop sustainable and regenerative alternatives to reduce the environmental impact on our planet.
The collaboration began in 2023 through various explorations with biomaterials, particularly using mycelium, alongside the internship required for my master's degree.
Although my limited background in science was a hindrance to securing a position, my experience in software design attracted the company's interest for the creation of this software and thus allowed me to carry out this consultancy
After several work meetings with scientists and multiple visits to the laboratory, I was able to gather the necessary information to better understand the subject matter and the company's needs regarding this software. This provided me with the necessary knowledge to offer a comprehensive solution.
Another challenge was conducting market research on sequencing processes, leading team meetings to gather user insights, designing a strategic architecture diagram for an MVP, and proposing prototypes for testing and validation before major investments.
